New found knowledge

My Reflection

As a ICT student, this 2nd quarter made me realize the crucial role basic HTML tags play in building websites. HTML, or Hypertext Markup Language, serves as the backbone of web development, providing structure and meaning to content. Mastering basic HTML tags is essential for creating robust, semantic, and accessible websites. The BASIC’s Basic HTML tags such as <html>, <head>, and <body> provide the foundation for website structure. The <html> tag wraps the entire document, while <head> contains metadata, titles, and scripts. The <body> tag holds visible content. Proper use of these tags ensures a clear hierarchy and organization. Structure Headings (<h1-6>)and, paragraphs (<p>).Hierarchical headings structure content, paragraphs organize text enable inline styling. These tags enhance readability, accessibility, and search engine optimization. Enhancing Experience List tags (<ul>, <ol>, <li>), anchor tags (<a>), images (<img>), divisions (<div>), and tables (<table>) enrich user experience. These tags present information concisely, enable navigation, and add visual appeal. To maximize HTML's potential, developers should use semantic tags, separate structure and content, validate HTML regularly, and follow W3C standards. Adhering to these principles ensures websites are maintainable, scalable, and accessible. All this new found knowledge that i know gained i hope to share it and apply it to others.

Nationwide celebration for women’s month

Empowering Women’s Rights

National Women's Month, celebrated annually in March, honors women's contributions, achievements and progress toward equality. This commemoration serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for women's rights and empowerment.

Throughout history, women have faced discrimination, marginalization and oppression. Despite these challenges, women have consistently demonstrated resilience, determination and leadership. From suffragettes fighting for voting rights to activists advocating for reproductive freedom, women have pushed boundaries and challenged societal norms.

Today, women continue to break barriers in various fields, including science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), politics, arts and entertainment. Their accomplishments inspire future generations, fostering a culture of inclusivity and equality.

However, disparities persist. Women still face pay gaps, limited representation in leadership positions and systemic violence. National Women's Month emphasizes the urgency of addressing these issues.

*Laws Protecting Women's Rights*

1. *The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) of 1994 (U.S.)*: This landmark legislation provides protections for victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking. VAWA established grants for services, training and education, and created a national hotline for victims. Key provisions include:

- Emergency shelter and counseling services

- Protection orders and enforcement

- Funding for training law enforcement and court officials

2. *The Equal Pay Act of 1963 (U.S.)*: This law prohibits sex-based wage discrimination, ensuring women receive equal pay for equal work. Key provisions include:

- Prohibiting pay disparities based on sex

- Requiring equal benefits and working conditions

- Allowing victims to file lawsuits for back pay and damages

In conclusion, National Women's Month 2024 celebrates progress toward gender equality while acknowledging ongoing challenges. Laws like VAWA and the Equal Pay Act demonstrate significant strides in protecting women's rights. Continued advocacy and action are essential for achieving true equality and empowering women to reach their full potential.

Celebrating indigenously with others!

It's Time to Celebrate: Indigenous Peoples Month 2024!

Hey everyone! October is here, and you know what that means
It's National Indigenous Peoples Month in the Philippines! We're commemorating the 27th anniversary of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA), and I couldn't be more excited!

This year's theme, "Mga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalana" (Valuing, Nurturing, and Honoring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Knowledge), is all about embracing our rich cultural heritage. We'll have cultural festivals, traditional music and dance performances, art exhibitions, and so much more!

The IPRA is a powerful law that protects the rights of our Indigenous brothers and sisters to their ancestral domains, self-governance, and cultural preservation. Let's celebrate our diversity and promote inclusivity!

Climate Change and it's Effect to nations

What is Climate Change? And why it does affect the whole wide-world?

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. Such shifts can be natural, due to changes in the sun’s activity or large volcanic eruptions. But since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas.

Burning fossil fuels generates greenhouse gas emissions that act like a blanket wrapped around the Earth, trapping the sun’s heat and raising temperatures.

The main greenhouse gases that are causing climate change include carbon dioxide and methane. These come from using gasoline for driving a car or coal for heating a building, for example. Clearing land and cutting down forests can also release carbon dioxide. Agriculture, oil and gas operations are major sources of methane emissions. Energy, industry, transport, buildings, agriculture and land use are among the main sectors causing greenhouse gases.

Our country has Philippines has been experiencing rise in average temperatures, with the mean temperature increasing by 0.65 °C from 1951 to 2010. The country is expected to experience further warming, therefore sea level rises because of the global warming, glaciers slowly melting a slow to fast pace.

Everyone can help limit climate change. From the way we travel, to the electricity we use and the food we eat, we can make a difference. Start with these ten actions to help tackle the climate crisis.
